Last updated 23 October 2026.
These terms apply when you use theriverbend.co.uk, and they include the extra terms for guest posts further down. If you don’t agree with them, please don’t use the site. We may change them, and when we do we’ll update the date above.
Using the site
The River Bend is free to read for your own personal use. The text, photographs, diagrams and design belong to us or to the people who contributed them. You can quote short extracts with a link back to the page they came from. Please don’t copy whole articles, republish our images or scrape the site in bulk without asking us first.
Fishing information and your own safety
Our guides are written to be accurate, but fishing rules change. Rod licence requirements, closed seasons, byelaws, venue rules, size limits and access arrangements can all change, and they differ between waters. Check the current rules with the Environment Agency or the relevant national body, and with the venue, before you fish.
Fishing carries risks, from water and weather to hooks and wildlife. You fish and follow our advice at your own risk, and you are responsible for your own safety and for how you treat the fish you catch.
Affiliate links and sponsored content
Some links on the site are affiliate links, and some content is sponsored. Both are explained on our affiliate disclosure page. Prices, stock, delivery, returns and warranties are handled entirely by the retailer you buy from, and their terms apply to your purchase, not ours.
Guest posts and contributions
These terms apply to anyone who pitches or supplies a guest post, whether it’s unpaid or sponsored. Our write for us page explains how to pitch.
Publication
Sending a pitch or a draft doesn’t guarantee we’ll publish it. We can decline a post, edit it, change its title, move it or take it down.
Your work
You confirm that the post is your own work, that it hasn’t been published elsewhere (or that you’ve told us where), that it doesn’t copy anyone else’s writing, and that you have permission to use every image you send. You also confirm that it doesn’t contain anything unlawful, misleading or defamatory.
Rights
You keep the copyright in your post. You give us a non-exclusive licence to publish it on The River Bend, edit it for accuracy and house style, and keep it on the site and in our archives.
Editing and credit
We edit for accuracy, UK spelling and house style. Your name and a short bio go on the post, and we’ll send you the edited version before it goes live.
Links
We decide how many links a post carries, where they sit and how they’re marked. Links in sponsored posts are marked rel=”sponsored”. We may also add nofollow to other links where that’s appropriate.
Sponsored posts
A sponsored post carries a clear Sponsored label. Payment terms are agreed in writing before any work starts.
No promises about search
We don’t guarantee rankings, traffic, indexing or any other search result for a guest post or the pages it links to.
Removal
Published posts stay live. We may remove or change a post if it turns out to be inaccurate, if a link or the page it points to changes in a way that breaks these terms, or if the law requires it.
Links to other sites
We link to other websites because we think they’re useful, but we don’t control them and aren’t responsible for their content or their privacy practices.
Our responsibility to you
We provide the site and its content as they are. Nothing in these terms limits liability that can’t legally be limited, such as liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud. Beyond that, we aren’t liable for any loss that comes from relying on information on the site or from using links to other sites.
Privacy and cookies
How we handle personal data and cookies is set out in our privacy policy.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales will deal with any dispute about them.
